Job ad: Senior Researcher at IfL
The Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography in Leipzig (IfL), Germany, offers a position as a Senior Researcher (100 % E 13 TV-L) (f/m/d) as of 1 August 2022 with a fixed-term contract of 3 years and 8 months for the IfL-based “Laboratory for Multi-Perspective Peace and Conflict Cartography” in the research network “Cooperation and Conflict in Eastern Europe. The Consequences of the Reconfiguration of Political, Economic and Social Spaces since the End of the Cold War (KonKoop)”.
The person to be hired conducts research on spatial visualisations in and about Eastern Europe and establishes the „Map Lab“, which consults and supports network partners in developing visualisations of their research in the form of maps, infographics and digital formats.
The Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography (IfL) in Leipzig analyses social processes from geographical perspectives and makes social change visible. The IfL is the only non-university research institution for geography in the German-speaking world. As a member of the Leibniz Association, theinstitute is funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and its states.
The „Map Lab“ located at IfL will become a central node of the KonKoop research network. The partner institutions within this network are: Centre for East European and International Studies in Berlin (ZOiS, Lead), Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies in Regensburg (IOS), Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History in Potsdam (ZZF), Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU Jena) and Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE). This multi-local and interdisciplinary research network focuses on the dynamics of conflicts and cooperation in Eastern Europe, Southeast Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia. The empirical data gathered in the context of individual projects within the network are combined in a Multi-Method Data Laboratory at ZOiS and a Laboratory for Multi-Perspective Peace and Conflict Cartography at IfL.
