New Publication by Media Advisory Board Member Gemma Pörzgen on recent developments in Belarus

The new issue of the journal „OST-WEST. Europäische Perspektiven (OWEP)“ is now available. OWEP dedicates its current issue to the background of the events in Belarus. Many people in Germany are still not sufficiently familiar with the former Soviet republic. The issue under the title „Belarus – ein Land im Umbruch“ (“Belarus – a country in transition”) therefore offers numerous articles that provide a deeper insight from authors who know the country and its people first-hand.

OWEP Editor-in-Chief and member of the EEGA Advisory Board for Media and Transfer Gemma Pörzgen looks at the situation of the media and journalists in Belarus. Her conclusion: Independent reporting in the country is currently severely hampered, and direct violence against media representatives has become part of everyday life.
