Two new Book Reviews by Colin Darch and Natalia Telepneva
There are two new book reviews on EEGA’s third edited volume „Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union, and Africa: New Perspectives on the Era of Decolonization, 1950s to 1990s“ edited by Chris Saunders, Helder Adegar Fonseca and Lena Dallywater (Berlin: De Gruyter Oldenbourg, 2023):
With the introductory words „The editors are perhaps unduly modest about their objective, which is to ‘produce insights’ – what the reader actually gets is fascinating detail about organisations such as, for example, the World Federation of Trade Unions, and the life histories of various individuals“ Colin Darch (University of Cape Town) published the first book review in November 2023. You can read it here.
Natalia Telepneva (Strathclyde University) in her book review, published in H-Luso-Africa in December 2023, states: „The volume contributes significantly to our understanding of decolonization in Lusophone Africa. It offers excellent examples, highlighting the transfer and circulation of ideas, practices, and cultures between liberation movements and their sponsors, especially in Eastern Europe.“ The complete review can be read here.
